Hummingbird Flight

I made this brayered card using the hummingbird from elements of style, the flowers from inspired by nature and pocket silhouettes, and the flourish from flowering flourishes. I inked the flourish with versmark and lucky limeade, stamped and then embossed with clear powder. Inked hummingbird with versamark then rich razzleberry, stamped then embossed with clear powder. Masked sun and brayered daffodil delight with calypso coarl at the bottom corner, then calypso coral, rich razzleberry and elegant eggplant at the top. Sponged a little soft suede at the bottom. Stamped flowers in black; added white highlights and sahara sand shadows to the images. Colored hummingbird over with coral pen. Added modern label with punchies and pearls. Matted with black and lucky limeade.

Strawberry Slumber

I have a lot of birthday cards to make this month and I rummaged through some stamps I hadn't used in a while. I always love the house mouse stamps - they are so adorable! The dots are the distressed dots background SU stamp, and the happy birthday is from itty bitty banners. The EF folder is new to me - fancy fan. I didn't think I liked it at first and then it grew on me.

Deep In Thought

This scene was created by masking off, brayering, and sponging. After stamping the lady in the boat in stazon black, I colored the image with markers, then a versamarker pen and embossed with clear embossing powder. Then masked off the skyline and the sand and brayered bashful blue and marina mist for the water. Masked sun and water and brayered blush blossom and bashful blue for the sky. Sponged in river rock, sahara sand, daffodil delight, soft suede for the sand. Stamped palm tree in black and colored with markers. Added shadows and white highlights. The lady in the boat is from an old SU set called summer by the sea. The happy birthday is from the itty bitty banners and is cut with bitty banners framelits. Palm tree is from all night media.

Birthday Blues

This card is done in my favorite shades of SU's blues :) I first stamped the flowers from everything eleanor in basic gray on whisper white cardstock. Colored them in with pool party, baja breeze, night of navy. Cut into strips and matted with pool party. Matted poppy parade designer series paper with pool party; adhered all 3 to basic gray panel. Stamped another flower in basic black on watercolor paper; colored with markers and cut out. The lacey scallop circle mats in basic gray are from the lacey circles by spellbinders nestabilities. The pool party scallop is the 2 3/8" punch. Colored the happiest wishes sentiment with night of navy and baja breeze pens and punched with 1 3/4" circle punch.
In case you wondered, pearls are a cover up of an unfortunate and frustrating smudge at the end of the card, as is the placement of the ribbon :) So many of my cards get some added elements to cover up boo boos!

Elegant Butterfly Best

I like the simplicity of this card. The butterfly is from the papillon potpourri set and punched with the elegant butterfly. I first stamped butterfly on the vanilla cardstock, then stamped again and punched out; adhered to top of other stamped butterfly. Cardstock is pool party, basic gray, very vanilla. Baja breeze ink and seam binding ribbon. Best wishes is from retired set sincere saluations.

Sunflower Mashup

I was inspired by the thought of fall being just around the corner. I stamped the large sunflower stamp in crumbcake on very vanilla, then stamped the leaf from french foliage in basic gray; embossed with square lattice EF. Added the basic gray cardstock also embossed in square lattice, a strip of vanilla, and itty bitty shapes flowers with a few rhinestones. Ribbon is very vanilla seam binding with a decorative brad. Congratulations is from itty bitty banners and is cut with bitty banners framelits.
Thanks for looking :)

Eleanor Meets Doilies Birthday

The background print of this card was made using the everything eleanor set and inked in soft suede, basic gray, perfect plumb, crumb cake. The doily matting is the delicate doilies, layered with the 2 3/8" scallop circle (stamped with decorative circle with lines from everything eleanor) and the 1 3/8" circle punches. The happy birthday is from happiest birthday wishes set. It's hard to tell from the photo, but I stamped the happy birthday in razzleberry and punched, then stamped the inner birthday in soft suede and cut out the circle.

Poppy Window Birthday

For this window of poppies, I stamped the pleasant poppies on watercolor paper, colored with markers and blender pens, then cut into squares and matted with black. Background panels are embossed with square lattice and petals a plenty. Cardstock is very vanilla, calypso coral, black, wild wasabi. Happy birthday sentiment is from itty bitty banners and is cut with bitty banners framelits. Thanks for looking!

Thinking of You

This card is done in navy and melon mambo. I stamped the pleasant poppy image on the navy using white craft ink. Then I stamped the poppy again on very vanilla in melon mambo and cut it with the window frame framelits and matched up with the poppy image on the navy. Matted with melon mambo, cut with scallop edge punch. Added panel of melon mambo to the bottom that was embossed with petals a plenty EF. Used the bitty banners framelits to cut out the sentiment and added itty bitty shapes flower, 1/2" circle,  3/4" circle and pearl rhinestones.

Hello Friend

This boot is from the happy you hostess set. I made the flower matting using the 1 3/8" circle, the 1 3/4" scallop, the fancy flower, and the 2 3/8" scallop punches. I stamped the wonderfully worn background stamp in white on the early espresso cardstock then embossed with the polka dots. The hello is from the tiny tags set and punched with the jewelry tag. Simple and fun!

Triple Time Leaves

I have definitely worn out this triple time stamping technique. This card is similar to a previous post using this french foliage set, only it was on white background with a fancier ribbon :)

This also is a card for the Hayden library class. I am going to have quite a few beginners, and this is an easy but stunning technique to teach.

ink: cajun craze, always artichoke, soft suede, melon mambo
cardstock: white, sahara sand, brown for matting (not SU)

Birthday Drive By

This card is for my sweet son's 22nd birthday. I don't know why after all these years, it is still hard for me to come up with a "mancard". It was so tempting for me to add ribbon but I exercised self-control :)

I used the retired loads of love set for the truck, and the birthday sentiment is from happiest birthday wishes.  I used the square lattice embossing folder after stamping the wood grain. Colors used: crumb cake, basic gray, baja breeze, whisper white.

Pool Party Triple Layer

So I am clearly hung up on this triple stack stamping thing! And evidentally I'm also hung up on the pool party with basic grey and crumb cake combo since this is the second card using these colors! I think what I love most about this triple layer stamping technique is that it turns out so elegant looking with great dimension. I think most experienced stampers can guess how the little white tabs ended up on the card (and I like them too); amazing how many little doodads and embellishments go on a card to cover a stamping mistake like stamping the edge of the stamp with the image :(

SUPPLIES:
  • cardstock - pool party, white
  • ink - crumb cake, basic gray, pool party
  • stamps - papillon potpourri, pocket silouhettes (thanks so much), fresh vintage
  • misc - elegant butterfly, oval, scallop, word window punches; rhinestones, ribbon
To anyone who used my incorrect dimensions previously listed I apologize :) The dimensions listed on the triple stack cards below should be accurate.

Triple Layer or Triple Time stamping

Triple layer or triple stack stamping technique:

First stack the 3 main layers centered on top of one another and then stamp your image directly on top, overlapping layers at times. Don't worry if the image misses some of the edges between layers - this will be covered up when you add the matting.

After you've stamped your images, separate the 3 layers and mat them. Easy and cute!

Measurements:
largest rectangle 3 15/16" x 5 1/8"
middle rectangle 3 1/16" x 4 1/8"
smallest rectangle 2 1/4" x 3 3/16"

(For anyone who previously tried to use the dimensions for the triple stack stamping, I have updated the middle mat size on the posts below. I had measured incorrectly the first time I posted it. It should be correct now. Sorry for the previous inconvenience!)

Triple Layer Embossed

This is another card using the triple layer or triple stack technique. After stacking the 3 white layers, I stamped the doilies and flowers in crumb cake, pool party, and basic gray. I left them in a stack and embossed them with the petals a plenty EF. Then matted each layer with soft suede. The stamps used are from delicate doilies and fresh vintage SAB set. The happy birthday in the pool party scallop circle is from a retired hostess set called happiest birthday wishes. Ribbon is crumb cake seam binding.

Mat and card dimensions: (I have corrected the middle mat size)

Card made with white 8 1/2" x 5 3/8" when folded measures 4 1/4" x 5 3/8"
outer largest rectangle soft suede mat 4 1/8" x 5 1/4"
outer largest rectangle inner white 3 15/16" x 5 1/8"
middle rectangle soft suede mat 3 3/8" x 4 1/4"
middle rectangle white 3 1/16" x 4 1/8"
smallest rectangle soft suede mat 2 3/8" x 3 5/8"
smallest rectangle white 2 1/4" x 3 3/16"

French Foliage Triple Layer Card

This triple layer card is the latest sensation! I have seen so many beautiful creations with this technique that I thought I'd give it a shot :) I used the french foliage set for this. After cutting the three separate white rectangles, you stack them on top of one another and then stamp the images; then mat each layer. So simple and beautiful!
SUPPLIES:
ink: cajun craze, melon mambo, always artichoke, crumb cake, early espresso, river rock
paper: early espresso, whisper white
stamps: itty bitty banners, french foliage

Mat and card dimensions: (I have corrected the middle mat size)

Another Simple Reason to Smile

This is the same card for the Hayden library workshop, but with a different flower and a few of the itty bitty punches added for character. Sometimes if the class has over 5 or 6 people, I use a different stamp so more than one person can work at a time. So this is just a slightly different version than the last post.

Simple Reason to Smile

This card is for another workshop I am teaching at the Hayden library. Trying to keep it simple but still cute. This flower is from the reason to smile set. I also used the petals a plenty EF, the word window punch, and the itty bitty punches. I stamped the flowers in real red, calypso coral and pretty in pink.

Simple Black & White

This card is simple, simple, simple! No coloring, just stamping with black ink on whisper white paper! The stamp set is happiness shared; thank you sentiment is from the old hostess set faith in nature. Just stamp floral image as background print; mat with daffodil delight. Stamp image again on white and cut with window frame framelits; add black decprative label punch to accent edges. Mat with larger window frame framelits in daffodil delight after running through square lattice embossing folder. Add itty bitty punch shapes, ribbon, and sentiment punched out with word window punch. Elegant, classy and easy!
