Distress Oxide Ink Gears

Smoky Slate Cardstock & Distress Oxide Inks

I created this quick video to show you how you can take a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock and turn it into a mottled, grungey, oxidized looking piece for die cutting the Garage Gears thinlits. I used the Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in Black Soot, Walnut Stain, Antique Linen, Hickory Smoke, Frayed Burlap and Tumbled Glass. To finish off the piece, I added some of the Ranger micro distress glaze.

All of the embossed panels were made using the different distress oxide inks, in the same way as the garage gears, just different colors.

Vintage Birthday

My goal was to come up with a card that could be masculine. I was in the mood to play around with oxide inks, and I love that the results are never the same when working with these inks. I did the oxide ink smooshing on my craft mat, sprayed with water in various colors of Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap, Hickory Smoke, Black Soot, Iced Spruce and Tumbled Glass. I applied and smooshed until I got a beautiful, mottled background. Then I stamped the World Map stamp on the large backgrond piece, and embossed the other two panels with square lattice and a license plate ef. The little truck is from an old stampin up set (loads of love?). I stamped the truck on kraft paper, then smooshed in the various oxide inks.
