Watercolor Winter

To create the background colors, I colored the acrylic block using markers - coastal cabana, strawberry slush, crushed curry, pumpkin pie. Spritzed with water and stamped on whisper white cardstock. After it dried a little, I stamped the lovely as a tree in night of navy.

I think the colors mean I am looking toward spring!

Bitty Butterfly Thank Yous

My computer is down so I will post details later. It has been way too long since my last post :) I have been enjoying summertime while it's here. Lots of good times with friends and family. But I was able to sneak in a little play time with some of the new goodies from the 2013 - 2014 catalog!

Wildflower Birthday

SUPPLIES:

  • cardstock: Whisper White, Blushing Bride, non SU pink
  • ink: Pretty in Pink, Lucky Limeade, Real Red, Night of Navy, Island Indigo
  • stamps: Wildflower Meadow, Label Love
  • accessories: Wildflower Meadow folder, Artisan Label punch, non SU ribbon
After inking entire Wildflower Meadow with Pretty in Pink, I then colored bird and flowers with markers, huffed and stamped. Embossed with matching Wildflower Meadow folder.

Note: I made this for a card workshop, and everyone loved the card. However, it took so long for each person to color the stamp, that it left people waiting for too long. So, I wouldn't recommend it as a great hands-on card!

Using acrylic block F 4 7/8" x 6", I added reinker droplets starting with More Mustard in the center, Pumpkin Pie in a ring around the More Mustard, then Cajun Craze in a ring around the Pumpkin Pie. (about 5 - 8 droplets of reinker per color). Misted the block with water, and with the block face up with misted reinkers on it, I placed watercolor paper on top block and pressed. Then used aqua painter and Cajun Craze reinker drops to blend the outer edges of the color that didn't quite get coverage; sponged Early Espresso around edges.

Vintage Honeycomb

When I teach my card workshops, I have to keep the idea fun and eye-catching without being too involved. I hadn't pulled out "Elements of Style" in a long time and forgot how much I love this set!

Make sure to stamp the background flower before embossing with the honeycomb EF. I also stamped the chevron pattern from the Oh, Hello set on whisper white using Pretty in Pink classic pad; stamped the flower from Elements of style in Early Espresso and then cut with the labels framelits. Colored the flower pattern with markers.

God is Love

This is another card from a workshop using Secret Garden set with matching framelits. After stamping and cutting the flowers, I then embossed them with the square lattice folder.

SUPPLIES:

  • cardstock - whisper white, pool party, basic gray
  • ink - basic gray, pool party marker
  • stamps - secret garden, everything eleanor, trust god
  • accessories - vine street EF, finishing touches edgelits, secret garden framelits, misc buttons and twine

Bleach Technique

This is a super simple card we made at a workshop using the bleach technique. To achieve this bleach effect, place paper towels on a plate and pour bleach directly onto paper towels. Ink stamp by pressing directly on the bleach soaked paper towels and then immediately onto card.

The verse is from the Trust God set and the flowers from the Secret Garden set in the spring catalog. I pulled out some paper that wasn't filed according to color, and I believe the light color is pale plum, and the background paper may be wild wisteria

Deep In Thought

This scene was created by masking off, brayering, and sponging. After stamping the lady in the boat in stazon black, I colored the image with markers, then a versamarker pen and embossed with clear embossing powder. Then masked off the skyline and the sand and brayered bashful blue and marina mist for the water. Masked sun and water and brayered blush blossom and bashful blue for the sky. Sponged in river rock, sahara sand, daffodil delight, soft suede for the sand. Stamped palm tree in black and colored with markers. Added shadows and white highlights. The lady in the boat is from an old SU set called summer by the sea. The happy birthday is from the itty bitty banners and is cut with bitty banners framelits. Palm tree is from all night media.

Triple Time Leaves

I have definitely worn out this triple time stamping technique. This card is similar to a previous post using this french foliage set, only it was on white background with a fancier ribbon :)

This also is a card for the Hayden library class. I am going to have quite a few beginners, and this is an easy but stunning technique to teach.

ink: cajun craze, always artichoke, soft suede, melon mambo
cardstock: white, sahara sand, brown for matting (not SU)

Summer Sunset

A birthday card inspired by the summer sunsets here on our mountain in North Idaho. The flower is from the upsy daisy set. I masked the sun with a post it note, then brayered the different colors in layers using daffodil delight, calypso coral, rich razzleberry, cajun craze. I sponged in daffodil delight, calypso coral, and melon mambo in specific areas to make them pop more. Stamped the flower in elegant eggplant then embossed with the petals a plenty EF; added daffodil delight seam ribbon, butterfly punch, the itty bitty punches, and the itthappy birthday stamped in rich razzleberry and cut with the banners framelits.
