Watercolor Winter

To create the background colors, I colored the acrylic block using markers - coastal cabana, strawberry slush, crushed curry, pumpkin pie. Spritzed with water and stamped on whisper white cardstock. After it dried a little, I stamped the lovely as a tree in night of navy.

I think the colors mean I am looking toward spring!

Acrylic Block Watercolor Technique

SUPPLIES:

  • stamps: Lovely as a Tree, Flowering Flourishes, Teeny Tiny Wishes
  • cardstock: Whisper White. Black, White, Watercolor paper not SU
  • ink: More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, Basic Black, Craft White
  • accessories: acrylic block, water mister, mini brads, Word Window Punch, Aqua Painter, Sponge Dauber.
Using acrylic block F 4 7/8" x 6", I added reinker droplets starting with More Mustard in the center, Pumpkin Pie in a ring around the More Mustard, then Cajun Craze in a ring around the Pumpkin Pie. (about 5 - 8 droplets of reinker per color). Misted the block with water, and with the block face up with misted reinkers on it, I placed watercolor paper on top block and pressed. Then used aqua painter and Cajun Craze reinker drops to blend the outer edges of the color that didn't quite get coverage; sponged Early Espresso around edges.

Stamped Lovely as a Tree and Flowering Flourishes in Basic Black. Stamped JUST FOR YOU from Teeny Tiny Wishes on black using craft white ink. Punched Word Window Punch; added mini brads.

Acrylic Block Leaves

I tried the acrylic block technique and didn't like the image on the paper so I decided to diecut the leaves out of it and add some color spritzing and brayering to them.

I stamped pumpkin pie and cajun craze on my acrylic block, sprayed with water, then stamped on whisper white. I then diecut all of the leaves; used SU's color spritzer tool and added cherry cobbler, more mustard and crumb cake. Brayered edges with soft suede on some leaves and cajun craze on the others. Background panels are embossed with wood grain folder. Cardstock: espresso, so saffron, whisper white. Happy Thanksgiving from TEENY TINY WISHES set. Leaves are spellbinders nested maple leaves. Ribbon is daffodil delight. I used popup dots on a few of the leaves.
